Beautiful decor books in blue…
How does the saying go? “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…”
All of these things are true for books, I think! Old books, new books, borrowed books and most definitely BLUE books!

After all, what could be better than a book with great content that also packs a punch in the pretty department?
There is just something about holding a book in your hands, flipping through the pages, admiring the colours and texture and composition…
I love picking up a pretty book – either to admire the beautiful photography or gain some inspiration for an upcoming project…!
My passion for books spans across many topics – recipe books, classics, children’s books, decor books, garden books – if it’s a beautiful book – I want it! 😂
So I am writing a blog post for you with a few of my favourite coffee table books – by colour! (Because I mean really – who doesn’t love a rainbow?)
And because my favourite colour is blue – I’m starting off with my best coffee table books in blue!
The best of blue decor coffee table books
For as long as I can remember I have always loved blue! While I was studying jewellery design I fell in love with aquamarines. Ever since then, duck egg or aqua blue have been my all-time favourites (sorry blue blue, it’s nothing personal – I still love you…especially for clothing!) 😉
A few things about blue…
Blue is the colour of water and sky. It is a calming colour which represents depth, peace, sincerity and creativity. Each shade of blue also has it’s own meaning, but some popular shades mean the following: Dark blue encourages you to be organized and efficient; light blue brings peace and calmness into an environment while aqua is a colour often used for relaxation because it inspires a feeling of trust. Blue always gives me the feel of fresh, airy (dare I say?) coastal vibes…
When I think about blue I feel relaxed, at ease and calm in a space – probably the reason why I love it so much!

Here is a list (in no particular order) of my favourite blue books! Some of these I already own – and the few that I don’t, I desperately wish that I did! 😂

THE INSPIRED ROOM – Melissa Michaels
I think this might have been one of the first decor books I ever bought – and I am still obsessed with it! From the gorgeous cover (with embossed detail) (I’m sure the cover could be made into stunning wallpaper?) to the beautiful fonts used throughout the book – this book is a winner! Melissa’s easy writing style and practical tips for creating a welcoming home tick all the right boxes!
DOMINO – The Book of decorating
Written by the popular Domino magazine team – I was first head-over-heels in love with this book for it’s cover! (Just being honest!) However, there are also many great design and layout tips in this book! The book is very well laid out and starts by determining your own personal style, then takes you through room for room while discussing key pieces of furniture and so much more!
LOVABLE LIVABLE HOME – Sherri and John Petersik
The second book written by husband and wife team, Sherri and John Petersik of Young House Love. I pick up this book again and again and always find inspiration in it! I love the fact that there are no hard and fast “right or wrong” decor rules, but rather a sense that a home should be practical and suit your family’s needs. (Their first book Young House Love is also one worth mentioning to add to your collection!)
THE HOME BOOK – House Beautiful
This one is more of an oldie – but I included it because the cover fits in so perfectly with the blue decor theme, and because it has a lot of valuable information regarding design choices as they relate to your homes’ location, architecture and general style.
COZY MINIMALIST HOME – Myquillyn Smith
This is one of the books that I don’t own but that is on my wish list! Ever since I listened to the Young House Love has a Podcast Episode where they interviewed Myquillyn just before the release of her book, I’ve been dying to get my hands on a copy! It also sounds intriguing to me how she went from having so much stuff to advocating minimalism…so this one is definitely on my “one day soon” list!
DREAM DECOR – Will Taylor
This one is also one that I don’t own – but it looks like the perfect coffee table book to go in a beach house, don’t you think?
SIMPLE ORGANIZING – Melissa Michaels
This pocket size book is full of great, simple (yet often forgotten!) tips for organizing your home in simple and practical ways. I love the floral cover and beautiful fonts used in this book – I think this book would make a delightful gift! (If you would like to read more about this book, check out my blog post review here)
Books to add to your collection
With so many beautiful blue decor coffee table books available – there are many more that I haven’t mentioned here that could be added to the list!
But this is the one book that I can’t wait to add to my blue collection as soon as it’s released! 😊
ELEMENTS OF FAMILY STYLE – Erin Gates
Isn’t this cover just gorgeous…? If it looks so good from the outside – I can’t wait to see what’s inside! Erin Gates is the author of the New York Times Bestseller Elements of Style. Her new book, Elements of Family style, really fascinates me as I have a family with small children myself. I am always striving to create a home that is lived-in, yet beautiful – and know exactly how challenging it can be sometimes! 😂
