It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And with that being said, I’d like to show you how to create a magical wall shelf. For no other reason than to make Christmas more magical and bring the magic right into your home!
I was inspired to create this little Christmas house shelf after looking at some beautiful Christmas bar carts on Instagram… One particular one that caught my eye was this one by Chandeliers and Champagne…and from there my dream was born!
I thought it would be fun to create something Christmasy and magical!
What you will need to create a magical wall shelf
Supplies
- A shelf
- Various pieces of pretty paper, scrapbook paper or gift wrap
- Double sided tape
- A hook to hang your shelf
- Small Christmas decorations
So let’s begin…
I grabbed my little house shelf which I bought for my daughter’s room from H&M a while ago…and started planning!
I wanted to use decorations that are mostly glass, so I decided to decorate the house shelf with paper first. This would help the ornaments stand out a bit, and blend in with my colour scheme! However, if your decorations are colourful, you could probably leave adding the paper!
I collected a few matching pieces of paper – some scrapbook and some gift wrap. Next, I cut out pieces to place inside my house. To secure the pieces of pretty paper inside the house shelf, I just used double-sided tape.
After my paper was in place, I hung my wall shelf on the wall. Luckily I already had a pre-existing hook…đŸ˜‰ I definitely didn’t feel like putting new nails or hooks in the wall… That would be faaaaar too much effort! And besides, there are far too many other fun Christmas decorating things to do to have time for that! đŸ˜‚
When the house wall-shelf was up, I simply placed some pretty Christmas ornaments in the various compartments and I was good to go… Well, almost!
Last, but not least, I used some sticky tack and placed fairy lights around the outside of my house shelf… Because Christmas and fairy lights just go together like milk and cookies, right?

I think there are many ways you could create a similar look without using a house shelf … it just so happened that I had one on hand. But you could also use an old printer’s tray or any other shelf to create a similar look!
