A special kiddies Christmas party

Home / Celebrations / A special kiddies Christmas party

It’s that time of the year again – when the calendar fills up faster than you can jot important dates down – the school year is fast coming to an end – and everyone is in the mood for a little bit of celebrating and what better than a special kiddies Christmas party!

Merry Christmas, chocolate treasure hunt

Christmas is such a magical time when you’re a child – and the years go by all too quickly…

So why not have some festive fun with the kids?

Throw in some bright colours, yummy biscuits, a few sweets, gorgeous reindeer cake pops and a chocolate treasure hunt and you’re sure to have the children (and grown-ups!) in good cheer!

Christmas, reindeer cake pops

Super easy reindeer cake pops:

Ingredients

  • Ready bought store cake
  • Batch of buttercream icing (can also use ready-made, I just mixed up a batch)
  • Straws
  • Dark chocolate for dipping (and a nice deep bowl!)
  • Pretzels for antlers
  • Mini marshmallows for eyes
  • Mini biscuits for the nose (I purchased mine from a local coffee shop)
  • Glacé cherries for the snout

Method:

  • Crumble your store bought cake and mix equal parts cake and buttercream icing sugar together.
  • Roll your cake and buttercream mix into balls (don’t make them too large, as you are still going to coat them with chocolate and if they are too heavy they tend to fall off of the straw sticks!)
  • If your cake pops are too soft, put them in the fridge to firm up a little bit.
  • In the meantime, melt your chocolate in a deep bowl.
  • Place a bit of melted chocolate onto your biscuits and then place the glacé cherry on top.
  • Next dip the ends of your straws into the chocolate to secure your cake pop on top of the straw – place your cake pop on top.
  • Once the cake pops are secure, dip the entire cake pop into the chocolate and cover.
  • Working quickly, place all of your toppings on top (antlers, eyes, biscuit and cherry nose).
  • Voila! Gorgeous reindeer cake pops!!!

These little sleighs are so cute and super quick and easy to make!

  • Grab some rectangular boxes, candy, sweets and sticky tape
  • Use the sticky tape to stick the candy cane onto the box
  • Fill your sleighs with sweeties of your choice – and all done!

Kiddies Christmas party Menu

Also on the food menu were:

  • Chicken balls (perfect for little fingers!)
  • Savoury skewer sticks with viennas, cherry tomatoes and cubes of cheese
  • Sweet skewer sticks with small marshmallows, strawberries and grapes
  • Sherbet straws
  • Chips
  • Marshmallows
  • Savoury biscuits
  • Chocolate balls
  • Jellies
  • Chocolate milk…mmm!

Simple decor also works for this sort of a party as the bright colours take centre stage! Decorate with a few bright boxes, printables and pretty ribbon wrapped around canisters or jars, and washi tape around your cooldrink bottles.

And last but most certainly not least… have fun!
