I don’t know about you – but I absolutely love love love spoiling my kids on Valentine’s day! So much fun – for them, and for me! So this year I decided to throw a super sweet and simple Valentine’s party for them!
My theme was Mickey and Minnie Mouse – so “minnie” reasons why I love you! I had seen such sweet Mickey and Minnie Mouse Valentine’s stuff in the shops…I couldn’t wait to put a party together with this theme!
Of course I was planning this all a little bit last minute – so I had to come up with some ideas for my theme that didn’t involve too much time or work! But in the end I think it turned out just fine! In fact – better than fine as the kids had a blast!
Choosing the theme for my kids Valentine’s party
I had seen this really cute Mickey and Minnie Mouse gift bag in the shop and decided to designed my theme around it.
The really nice part about having a key piece to begin with is planning around it! It can often set the colour scheme and tone for your event.
In my case, this meant that my colour scheme was red, white and pink – absolutely perfect for Valentine’s day!
The Mighty Menu
So of course, one of the most important parts about a party is the food, right? Well, for my kids it is anyway! (For me, I love the decor and setup more!)
But, you could hardly have a Mickey and Minnie Mouse party of any kind without hot (diggity) dogs, could you?
So of course hot dogs were first up on the menu!
Along with that went some butter popcorn in little black and white cups with mouse ears that I cut out of pink glittery cardboard.
I also added some red jelly with custard (one of my kids personal favourites), as well as a few pink and white mini marshmallows and some Mickey and Minnie Mouse Oreo biscuits on sticks!
I used mini Marie biscuits for the ears on my biscuits, as I couldn’t find mini Oreos anywhere – but mini Oreos would probably work a whole lot better! Then I dipped the mouse biscuits into melted white chocolate and sprinkled some edible glitter on top to add a bit of sparkle!
And last but not least, I made some Minnie Mouse “bows” with strawberries and grapes on cocktail sticks. Of course I also dipped these in chocolate and added glitter too…
Because everything looks better with a bit of glitter, doesn’t it? #justaddglitter
For drinks I just served some strawberry milkshake in glass bottles.
Other simple but sweet details for my kids Valentine’s party
I set a simple table with Mickey and Minnie gift wrap as my table runner. Gift wrap is such a great table runner for kids, as you can recycle the paper after the party and don’t need to worry about spills and stains!
Each place setting got a red felt heart-shaped placemat and plate with a printable and a red chocolate heart sucker. If you would like to download the printable you can find it at the end of this post!
I added a few different shaped balloons as a centre piece on my table and set up the food table on to the one side! I used a kiddies table for this so that the food was easy to reach.
And my only requirement for my kids to come to the party was – right, you guessed it! Wear something red!
All in all, it was such a quick and easy party to put together and the kids really enjoyed it!
It is worth every little bit of effort to see the excitement on their faces when they come in and see everything set up just for them…❤️
